"My first step in my artistic process is to take in the source material, whether a script, music, story, etc., and begin initial research. I create Pinterest board with initial mood, emotion, color, texture, and look. I like to play with color theory, associating certain characters with different colors based on their actions, moods, and relationships. Through many meetings with the director or choreographer, I can focus in onto the specific story that is being told. I provide multiple sketches that fit the parameters of the director's vision but allow my artistic choices to flow. Once the design is finalized, I begin turning it into reality. The costume shop executes all designs that need to be built or altered. My favorite part of the process is getting to see the work come together with all the other elements."
