Eurydice was an interesting show to tackle because of the contrasting worlds. The play is split between the Earth and the Underworld. I wanted to emphasize the difference between the characters who lived in each world: Eurydice and her Father looked like normal people of the 50s and had normal/neutral coloring whereas the Stones and the Nasty Interesting Woman/Lord of the Underworld were the only characters who wore bright colors. The Stones specifically had elements of stones, whether sedimentary, crystals, gems, or barnacles with colors, makeup, and accessories. They were decorated contrasting the simplicity of Eurydice and her Father. The makeup and hair connected with each character and their costumes. This production challenged me to think outside the box and add to the beautiful and complex characters of Eurydice.
